RADIO & WEASEL (GOODLYFE) BIOGRAPHY
Goodlyfe is a Ugandan music group consisting of two Magnates: Radio & weasel. Moses (Moze) Radio - born Moses Nakintije Ssekibogo; and Weasel - born Douglas Mayanja. Largely referred to by their stage names RADIO & WEASEL, the duo started off as backing vocalists for the Ugandan musician Dr Jose Chameleon, An Elder brother to Weasel. The East Africa's Dynamic duo then broke off from Chameleon’s Leone Island Record Label in 2008 to form the Goodlyfe Music Group. Since then, Not only have the duo's songs been very successful in the domestic music Arena, but also further field across Africa with undeniable success. This Result Brought them numerous collaborations with renowned International Artists such as General Ozzy (Zambia), Amani ( Kenyan), Kid Kaju (Rwanda) , Vannesa Mdee (Tanzania),Buffalo souljah (Zimbabwe),Toofan ( Togo) ,and more recently with Sauti Soul (Kenya),Redsan(Kenya),Cynthia Morgan And Wizkid From Nigeria , having worked on a number of songs together. Currently also still in studio, is a song they have recorded with the King of the Dancehall Beanie Man from Jamaica awaiting release towards the End of 2016.
Starting with Nakudata in 2008, the duo went on to release Lwaki Onumya, Zuena, Nyambura and Bread & Butter. Which Opened More opportunities Thus Making them collaborate with other domestic artists such as Rachel Kay, Blu*3, Omulangira suuna, Allan Toniks,GNL, Rabadaba,Vamposs,Bobi wine and Keko ; to name but a few.
History
Moses Radio's (RADIO) musical career began at Holy Cross Lake View Secondary School in Jinja, where he was the president of the Youth Alive Club. He composed musical projects for the club that succeeded in inter-school Youth Alive Club competitions. In 2002, Radio went to Kiira College Butiki in Jinja where he had a two-year break in his musical career while he concentrated on his high school studies. He joined Chameleon’s Leone Island Crew in 2004 and while working as Chameleon’s backing vocalist, Radio released his own solos whilst with Leone Island Records. These included Jennifer, Dagala, Wololo and with Sweet Lady being the most successful.
Moses Radio is the Greatest Song Writer in Uganda who do Most of the Writings in his camp and for Other Ugandan Artists as well. His work and music he has written has been seen making wonders on Uganda’s Top bill board charts. He has written for Artists Like: IRENE NTALE, DR JOSE CHAMELEON, JULIANA KANYOMOZI etc.
WEASEL also released solo projects under the auspices of his elder brother's records, but it was his collaboration with Chameleon on Bomboclat that caught the audience's attention.
Musical style
Moses Radio is provides smooth RnB vocals while Weasel's contribution is a fusion of reggae, ragga and dancehall vibes.
Accusations and collaborations
In 2008 Radio & Weasel did their First International collaboration with the Multi-Talented Zambian General Ozzy Releasing Two Great songs that Took East Africa By storm this included Potential & Take my Heart. Towards the Beginning of the Year 2009 Radio & weasel teamed up with The Hottest Raising Dancehall Artist by Then RABADABA Releasing the magic Monster Tune ABILITY which rocked all the Radio & TV stations (Air waves) in and outside Uganda. This opened Doors to more Songs and Domestic Collaborations such us DEMBESA with GANDA BOYS, You make me Cry with DIAMOND OSCAR, Pollination with OBSESSION, Tax Money with SIZZA MAN. Etc.
in 2011 Radio & Weasel Penned Down Top Notch Great songs which went viral on African Market Achieving over 1milion Views on There You tube channels These Songs Included FITTING with DESIRE LUZINDA,Hellena with DAVID LUTALO and Amaaso With PALLASO which was done In the Early Months of 2014.
In December 2013, the Goodlyfe duo teamed up again for the first time with their mentor Chameleon, which subsequently prompted the duo to share the same stage with him in the Presidential Campaign Tubonge concert of 2014 and still the recently concluded Presidential Campaigns of 2016 where Radio & weasel composed the Presidential Song Titled Tubonga Nawe Featuring Top Uganda Artists like Bebe cool, Juliana kanyomozi, King saha, Judith Babirye, Pastor wilson Bugembe etc. which was used by President Yoweri Kagguta Museveni Thus winning the 2016 Presidential Elections.
Battle of the Champions
In December 2013, Radio and Weasel fought a musical battle with Bebe Cool one of the Most Celebrated Musician in Uganda Which Attracted mores media houses, sponsors and Funds from very Many Different Companies in Uganda Since it was one of the first ever musical Battle in Uganda. The battle was held at Kyadondo Rugby grounds and up to now No clear decision emerged regarding the winner of the Battle.
Projects
Radio & Weasel have their own production house, Goodlyfe Magic Studios. However, the have several other projects They have worked and still working on with Different Studios & music producers such as Washington, Bleas,Just jose,Bushington,Nash Wonder,Eli Arhkis ETC Studios include: Fenon Records, Swangz Avenue,Dream studio, jeeb records Bless Records and Monster Studio To mention but a few.
Radio and Weasel have earned notoriety and etched their names in the hearts of many around the world; and quite rightly so as they continue to storm their way through the ever so competitive, ever so dynamic music industry. They have engaged in various musical Battles over time, thus earning their spot at the top of the game.
