JP THE WAVY is a Japanese rapper who has received critical acclaim in both Japan and overseas for creating a new music genre, as well as his sophisticated sense of fashion.
After working as a dancer, JP THE WAVY released his music video for "Cho Wavy De Gomenne" in May 2017, which went on to become a record-breaking viral hit. The remix of the song, which features SALU, has currently amassed over 24 million views on YouTube.
JP THE WAVY has performed with countless top artists from around the world, including big names from America, South Korea, China, Taiwan, South Africa, France, the UK, and Thailand.
In 2019, he performed at the world’s largest "SXSW 2019" conference and festival, which takes place every year in Austin, U.S.A. In April 2020, he released his first album "LIFE IS WAVY". The album jacket and associated merchandise related to the project feature the work of graphic designer Verdy.
In 2021, he was the only Asian performer chosen to appear on the soundtrack for "Fast & Furious/Jet Break", the latest offering in the "Fast & Furious" series, and also received the "GQ MEN OF THE YEAR 2021" award for Best Rap Artist.
In 2023, JP THE WAVY is also expanding his activities overseas, including an appearance at Rolling Loud Thailand, the first of its kind in Asia, and an Asian tour in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Taiwan.
